For her yarn, Liz picked Mosaic by Bernat (discontinued, alas) in the Spectrum colorway. The hat is crocheted in hdc in the third loop, which creates a knit look.
Two red wooden buttons provide a pop of contrast color. I like to sew decorative buttons close together for more impact. It's as if they're saying, "Hey, I'm with you here!"
