Once you brush a crocheted hat, you start searching for other hats to transform. 

This auburn hat had long mohair fibers that were tucked into the stitches.  Lightly combing the hat with a pet wire slicker brush released some of them and gave the hat a distinct mohair look.

Gentle brushing with a wire pet brush not only restored the fluffiness of this Puffball Flower Beanie, it also made it look better than it did originally.
A small wire slicker brush, the kind that you can get in pet departments, is turning out to be my new favorite crochet tool.

I love furry yarns, but most of them don't seem to love to be washed (even when the label says it's OK).

Enter the wire brush.  A few minutes of careful brushing takes the yarn back to its brand-new appearance.  And sometimes even better.
