Hot off my hook is this beanie in Vanna's Tapestry by Lion Brand. The 100 percent acrylic yarn looks and feels great, and it's designed to work up in striking patterns that evoke tribal rugs and textiles.
This colorway is called Great Britain. I used a 5 mm hook for a gauge of 14 sc = 4 in./10 cm. The hat is 72 sts around, measuring about 21 in./53 cm in circumference. Using almost the whole ball of yarn, this is a firm-ish hat for maximum warmth. I want to try the yarn again at the recommended gauge of 12 sc = 4 in./10 cm and compare the results..
Interestingly, while I used single crochet for this hat, the free patterns for this yarn on the Lion Brand site use taller stitches -- and those hats look very similar to mine.
